Contextual Learning: Exploring Multi-Level Pedagogy for ICH Education and ICH-based EducationThis paper is based on two phases of my work focusing on South Asian context:\n\n(i) my experience of designing an integrated heritage management programme and running it for the past five years, in which Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) has been a core concept; and\n(ii) my personal interest in rethinking the overall idea of education in general, and refining professional education for the heritage sector in particular.\n\nBoth of the above aspects have emerged from my engagement and exposure to the overall heritage scenario in South Asian contexts, hence this paper is a reflection on ICH pedagogy at least for the South Asian context. Viet NamLaw and Legal Documents on ICH \n\nLaw on Cultural Heritage indicates clearly that the cultural heritage in Vietnam is the valuable property of all ethnic groups of Vietnam and has its significant role in the sustainable development of the country. \nIn compatible with the 2003 Convention Vietnam rectified in 2005, the Law on Cultural heritage (2001) amended in 2009 with some articles on the identification of ICH, management, its safeguarding measures and designation of the master practitioners. Adaption and Accreditation of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Academia: An Analysis of Ethnomusicology Programs of Kathmandu UniversityThis paper explores how intangible cultural heritage is being adapted and accredited in an autonomous Higher Academic Institution. Kathmandu University Department of Music has been taken as a case study. \n\nThis Department offers Bachelors (B.Mus.), Masters (M.Mus.) and PhD in Ethnomusicology. As part of this study, information has been collected in order to understand the factors that were perceived as the main considerations for quality assurance of the programs in the department. These challenges were explored with accreditation framework following evidence based self-assessed perception methods of the faculties, staffs and the students. The parameters for accreditation were identified after study of documented information of the Department and in-depth interviews with the concerned stakeholders. The results show that there are obvious challenges that exist while accrediting the programs such as standardized reference books, appropriate location, adequate number of youths in the program, and providing support to attract foreign students and mobilizing students in national and international concerts, etc. It is noted that these challenges, however, have minor implications and can be solved at the time being addressing the problems with the structural adjustment and collaborative efforts with the community assuring quality of ICH related courses in ethnomusicology programs.Year2018NationSouth Korea

6. Developing Best Practice for Online Delivery of Ethnomusicological Recordings: Anecdotes from the British LibraryWhile recording and performance copyrights on some of the recordings has expired, the underlying works recorded in most cases fall into the categories of intangible cultural heritage featuring traditional cultural expressions (TCEs) not normally covered by legal copyright frameworks. With the growing interest among indigenous and traditional communities around the world in cultural reclamation and increased awareness among these communities of their cultural documents held in museums, libraries, and archives sometimes thousands of miles away, new frameworks for dealing with the unique intellectual property challenges these documents raise are required. This paper will describe the learning curve and outcomes of attempts at the BL to establish such workable frameworks and methods for legal and ethical inclusion of a large body of material for worldwide distribution on the BL Sounds website.
