“Kasko Hukum Pais” is a baalan bhajan, a type of musical drama with a long-standing tradition performed exclusively by men from the Brahmin and Chettri communities. There are always two groups of singers singing in a question-andanswer form about the Hindu epic poem Raamayana.

The father tries to persuade the daughter to marry a man who has come to the house to ask for her hand. The daughter asks questions about the man's personality, his house, and his lifestyle to which her father replies that he will be the best fit for her. The tempo of the song is medium.

The Rudri is effectively a shortened form of the Vedas that can be chanted daily. When we chant the Rudri we are chanting to the Rudra (Lord Shiva), whom we believe will offer protection for our whole life extending to the whole universe and keep us all free from harm and protected from evil spirits.

This is a song by the people living on the banks of the Kali Gandaki River, in the Dhaulagiri zone. It is sung at a festival that lasts for up to seven days. People arriving from different villages introduce themselves and get to know one another by asking questions in song. “Pravati Gayan” is chanted solely in the early morning, usually by a senior person of the household. “Swasthani Mangalacharana” is chanted in the evening before reciting each chapter of Swasthani Bratakatha to pray to ask God to listen to the chanting from this holy book, accept the worship, and give his blessing. Swastani is a Hindu legend about the goddess Swasthani and Lord Shiva.

Kaura songs are traditional folk songs sung by people from the Magar community of the mid-western and western hills. They are sung during Dashain, Tihar, and Chandi Purnima. The tempo of the song is slow at the beginning and gradually moves up to medium or fast beat. Kaura songs are sung in a question-answer form.

The main jaatraa of Bishnu Devi Temple in Tinthana, Kathmandu, is the Sat Gaunle jaatraa, an annual celebratory jaatraa that takes place in December. The festival lasts three days and three nights. On the third day before dawn, the chariots of the seven children of Goddess Bishnu Devi are brought together to visit their mother in her temple in Tinthana. They rest with her until the afternoon and then are returned to their respective village temples. The chariots are carried on the shoulders of devotees from the seven surrounding villages. Their arrival at Vishnu Devi Temple is heralded by the sounds of many kaa, drums, and cymbals.

Dafa Bhajan originated with the Jyapu community of the Newar caste in the Kathmandu Valley. It is usually performed when people gather in their local temple either in the morning before breakfast or in the evening after dinner.
