International Lazgi Festival
The festival is organized by UNESCO in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan, the Khokimiyat of the Khorezm region and other relevant departments. Exhibition stands and galleries dedicated to dancing art are also planned to be organized as a part of the festival. Various presentations and displays with the Uzbek national musical instruments and Uzbek national costumes, handicraft products by Uzbek artisans, works of fine and applied art of Uzbekistan, Uzbek sculpture examples will be demonstrated and presented to the attendees and guests of the International Lazgi Festival.\nAdditionally, video materials, films and documentaries, audio and video discs, books, albums, and photographs will also be presented in the territory of Khiva’s historical part – the Ichan-Kala complex. Guests attending the Lazgi International Dance Festival will have a chance to purchase Uzbek national products of arts and crafts during the exhibition, which is a part of the event.\n

Qarsak (literally, “handclap”) is a widespread and popular song genre, folk dance-game of Uzbek and Tajik people of Uzbekistan.Qarsak is performed by men (and later – by a mixed group of participants). It currently represents musical and dance traditions of Samarkand and very popular in Bukhara, Surkhandaryo and Kashkadaryo regions. Different folk poems ( a verse) are used as texts of mavrigi. Melodies of Qarsak are simple with low range and developed through primary melody .Qarsak, in the past, was a song that performed by men in a circle, which was accompanied by playing on doira, handclap, voices s and dances.It usually was performed during wedding ceremonies and public events.

Yalla is a song-dance genre of Uzbek oral art, which is widespread in Uzbekistan. The majority of songs in this genre are associated with love-related themes and lyrics and performed solo (by singer or yalla performer) with accompaniment of instruments.Melodies of yalla are more developed and songful, joyful and dance-suited.Mumtoz yalla differs significantly from widely-spread folklore songs in yalla genre, which use folk poetry and solo-groupnmanner of singing with accompaniment of doira or dutar (among the people “yalla” means “singing with a dance”). The examples include “Yallama yorim”, “Kho-kho yalla”, “Qizgina”, etc.
