Quroqchilik
Quroq — is the fabric which is made using droppings, mainly composed of geometric figures. Creating home-made items like pillows, blankets, coverlet, diverse colors and artwork requires great fantasy and computation. Because for creating quroq no new fabric is bought, but pieces ofnold fabrics are used. Quroq is an art of creating beautiful household objects from raw materials which were just about to throw down.Quroq pieces in majority of cases are sewn by hand. Sometimes, it can be done using sewing machine. Sewing quroq requires great patience and endurance. Therefore, it is necessary to have a great experience in sewing each piece in its place, the sizenof the fabric and the harmoniousness of colors.

Dza-zo or Phreng Chome-ley
Traditional pottery art in Bhutan is known in Dzongkha as Dza-zo and the artisans are Dza-khem; in Kurtoep dialect they’re known as Phreng, art, and Phreng cho-khan, artisans. Dza-zo traditional form of pottery falls within the scope of recognized traditional Bhutanese arts and crafts. Today, traditional artisans in Gangzur village in Gangzur village block, Lhuentse district continue to make Bhutanese pottery. The nearby village of Maenjabi in Maenbi block formerly practiced the art, but over the past twenty years lost its artisans to age and migration for work.\n\nArchaeological evidence shows that ceramics have been important from the time of early settlement in Bhutan. Earthen pots were used as household items in the absence of utensils made of copper, bronze, and iron as we know them today. With the visit of Guru Rinpoche to Bhutan in the 8th century, handicrafts were introduced to Bhutan, including Dza-zo pottery, which was then propagated by Drubchen Thangthong Gyalpo (1361-1485) and Rigzin Pema Lingpa (1450-1521) in the 14th and 15th centuries. The tradition of handicrafts reached its peak in the 17th century when Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel (1594-1651) took personal interest in arts such as Lhadri painting, patra engraving, tshem-zo embroidery, chag-zo blacksmithing, and troe-zo silversmithing. He reinforced the practice of these artisanal skills including pottery. \n\nTraditional pottery was first practiced in the villages of Rinpung in Paro, Wangbarma in Thimphu, Shar Goenkha in Wangdi and Gangzur in Lhuntse district. From these places, the skills and knowledge have been passed down from generation to generation until today.

Traditional knowledge and skills in making Kyrgyz and Kazakh yurts (Turkic nomadic dwellings)
Yurt production includes knowledge and skills in creating a portable dwelling traditionally used by Kazakh and Kyrgyz people. Yurt has a dismountable wooden circular frame covered with felt and braided with ropes. Yurts can be easily set up and dismantled within a short period of time. Yurts are basically characterized as easily transportable, compact, ecological and practical dwellings.\nBearers of yurt-making traditional knowledge are craftspeople (men and women), producing yurts and yurts’ interior decorations.\nMen and their apprentices make yurts’ wooden frames, traditionally by hand using special devices and instruments. Men also make wooden, leather, bone and metal details for yurts and household items. Women make yurt coverings and interior decorations. As a rule, they work in community-based groups supervised by experienced skilled women-artisans. Women-artisans use weaving, spinning, braiding, felting, embroidering, sewing, winding and other traditional handicraft technologies. Women’s work- process is usually accompanied by their singing, joking, telling stories about famous masters of the past and treating traditional meals.

The Dalaichoinkhor style steel crafts of deities, teapots, incense burners, stirrups, knives, and other accessory of household items are famous for their design and makes.

Surkhon dance
Surkhan dance or the dance of Surkhandarya stands out with its originality. Its formation and development is closely linked to ancient nomadic life style and culture of the population. Women’s dances are more heartfelt and bright, reflect light and vivacious walk. The movements of arms and hands are expressive, and the body stance is smooth and elegant. During the dance women-dancers always use household items such as wooden spoons, chighiriq (spinning wheel for spinning threads), chiroq(candelabrum), etc. Men’s dances are more active. They differ by jumping actions and squatting with refined bending of the body (torso) and raising arms in upward direction.
