Kishkinda Trust
At The Kishkinda Trust (TKT) in Anegundi, conservation empowers communities and creates a way of life that considers culture as an intangible element permeating all activities in life- ranging from functional to ideational- ecology, cuisine, crafts, design, agriculture, technology, education, markets and festivals. Founded in the year 1997 by Shama Pawar, The Kishkinda Trust (TKT) assists the villagers of Anegundi at a grassroots level to build capacity in order to maintain business incubators and to conserve their historical heritage. TKT runs several unique programs, which are seamlessly integrated with the lives of the local people and that empower them economically.

Nomadic Civilization Center
The Nomadic Civilization Center named after Kurmanjan Datka located in Ornok village of Issyk-Kul province, Kyrgyz Republic. \n\nThe Center was opened in 2017 with an aim to present to the public general the rich historical and cultural heritage of nomadic people. The Center constantly organizes cultural, educational, and scientific activities for the safeguarding, dissemination, and popularization of nomadic cultural values. Most of the activities of the Center are organized with the support of the local ICH communities e.g. exhibitions and fairs are usually conducted with the close cooperation of the Center and the craftspeople from the village or province.\n

Island Ark Project Foundation
Founded in 2015, the Island Ark Project seeks to safeguard intangible cultural heritage (ICH)nimperiled by modernization and migration by promoting the use of digital technologies in thenPacific island states. Our primary strategy to combating threats to ICH is to train local stakeholdersnin the adoption, creation, and modification of websites and online databases to store and share ICHnrecords with people overseas. Our team members are from the U.S., Germany, and Palau.

YAP STATE HISTORIC PRESERVATION OFFICE OF MICRONESIA
The Yap State Historic Preservation Office (YSHPO), located in Yap State in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), operates under the Department of Youth and Civic Affairs of the Yap State Government and has a regular budget funded by the local government and the National Park Service (NPS) and the United States Department of the Interior (DOI). YSHPO also receives occasional funding assistance for projects, technical or capacity building, and training and workshops from esteemed regional and international organizations—such as UNESCO, ICHCAP, and CRIHAP—and various national governments, including those of Australia, France, United States, and the FSM. YSHPO also collaborates and networks with other regional organizations, universities, and other bodies. To name a few, they include the University of Oregon, the University of Guam, Queens College, La Trobe, and others by conducting field schools in Yap during academic breaks.\nYSHPO has five main functions: 1) collecting Yapese written and oral history, 2) registering and surveying cultural and historical properties, 3) inventorying and mapping cultural and historical sites and properties, 4) restoring and rehabilitating cultural and historic properties, and 5) performing general YSHPO administration, including NPS/DOI Historic Preservation Fund (HPF). The organization also occasionally assists and supports the operation of the Yap State Living History Museum. Of some related projects, ICHCAP has funded three in Yap: 1) Youth Meets ICH with OurYAP, an umbrella youth organization for all the youth clubs, including high school children in Yap State, 2) the Preliminary Survey on Dormant ICH Data in the Pacific with a mixture of project workers from the Waab Cultural Heritage Society (elders) and some young people along with YSHPO staff, and 3) the 2017 ICHCAP-YSHPO Joint Cooperation Project for Safeguarding Intangible Heritage by Digitizing ICH-Related Analogue Data of the FSM, which is still ongoing.

Khamir Craft Resource Centre
Khamir was established in 2005 as a joint initiative of Kachchh Nav Nirman Abhiyan and the Nehru Foundation for Development to strengthen and promote the rich artisanal traditions of Kachchh district. The name ‘Khamir’ means ‘intrinsic pride’ in local language and it stands for Kachchh Heritage, Art, Music, Information and Resources. The organizational aim is to provide a platform for the promotion of traditional handicrafts and allied cultural practices, the processes involved in their creation, and the preservation of culture, community and local environments. Also a common roof of a democratic and empowering space has been created, where a range of stakeholders can exchange their ideas and collaborate. The organization works on shift consumer perspectives and raises the cultural value placed on crafts to establish a vibrant, sustainable Indian craft sector in which crafts and artisans alike are highly valued by people worldwide.

AJIYER promotes community led responsible tourism where community has the rights and ample knowledge to operate tours to promote and conserve not only their cultural heritage but also safeguard their surrounding environment. It operates in Tangail, Jhikorgacha, CHT, Monipuri community where local community engages into economic empowerment through tourism to promote and safeguard their cultural heritage (crafts, music and instruments) and indigenous knowledge (organic farming).

Mission: Assistance in the study, preservation and popularization of the natural, historical, cultural and spiritual heritage of ULYTAU through the implementation of a complex of creative, organizational, financial activities\n\nPriority goals and objectives: Organization and participation in a variety of local initiatives and projects for the protection and promotion of the natural, tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the region, including a wide range of the public at the regional, national and international levels.

Folklore Society of Japan
\nIn the Folklore Society of Japan, intangible cultural heritage has been discussed from various perspectives. They seeknto provide a venue for exchanging opinions among academics and local people involved in activities for safeguardingnintangible cultural heritage. The Folklore Society is working on a project to pursuit the meaning of Noh, Bunraku, andnKabuki, which are on the Representative Lists of ICH. The Folklore Society also collaborates with the Research Center ofnClassic Performing Arts of Kobe Women’s University.

Institute for Sustainable Development Strategy
Institute for Sustainable Development Strategy (ISDS) has been established in 2012. ISDS programs reach out to youth, especially those who live in remote rural areas, and empower young people to become biocultural diversity leaders to create positive change in their communities based on continuous intergenerational exchange.\n\nSince 2012, over 200 initiatives have been supported, of which more than 50% are covered by the revival and preservation of historical and cultural heritage. ISDS’ priority topics are the following: \n(1) Cultural identity, values, and traditional wisdom; \n(2) Well-being and sustainability of local communities; \n(3) Lands, territories, and access to natural resources; \n(4) Agrobiodiversity and food sovereignty.\n\nIn 2020-2021, ISDS participated in the “Visionary Local Communities” study jointly “Taalim Forum” Public Fund supported by the Japanese Center for ICH. The study was based on ICH safeguarding in the remote mountainous regions (Chon-Alai district of Osh province – southern part of Kyrgyzstan where ISDS focused on safeguarding patterned handweaving and establishing a community ethnographic museum). ISDS is an active member of regional and global indigenous movements for the conservation of cultural and natural heritage.

SOMAIYA KALA VIDYA
To provide artisans with the opportunity to realize their creative capacity, and to insure that craft traditions remained genuine cultural heritage, Judy Frater began a design education program for artisans in Kutch. In 2005, Kala Raksha Vidhyalaya opened its doors to artisan students: traditional weavers, ajrakh printers, bandhani artists, and embroiderers, with no further prerequisites of age or formal education.\nIn 2014, the year-long program evolved and expanded to Somaiya Kala Vidya. In six two-week intensive residential sessions spread over a year, artisan students learn to innovate within their traditions. nThe most innovative tool that we use in our design classes is simply to present problems to solve. We also draw on local traditions and teach as practically as possible. In effect, the design course re-imagines traditional systems in an appropriate contemporary form. Master artisan advisors teach students about traditions, as children once learned from elders; weavers, printers, and dyers learning together revitalizes the inherent interdependence in traditional textiles; and interface with urban markets reinvents direct contact with hereditary clients.\nAfter design education for artisans in Kutch reached its goals, Somaiya Kala Vidya is scaling out their approach to other regions. Keeping cultural heritage as the foundation, they intend to teach design within regions, drawing on local language and culture.

Public Association of Kuhhoi Pomir
\nThe Public Association of Kuhhoi Pomir (Pamir Mountains), a UNESCO-accredited NGO, is operating their projects on the territory of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) of the Republic of Tajikistan, which is also called Pamir or figuratively the roof of the world. The Association is actively involved in biodiversity of local ecosystems, conservation and restoration of nature, cultural and historical heritage of mountain communities, public physical and spiritual health, sustainable use of local resources, among others. It also encourages revitalization of cultural and spiritual heritage of population of mountainous locality and participates in the transmission of national traditional knowledge to the new generation.

Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, Smithsonian
The Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage is a research and educational unit of the SmithsoniannInstitution that produces the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, Smithsonian Folkways Recordings,nexhibitions, documentary films and videos, symposia, publications, and educational materials. ThenCenter also maintains the Ralph Rinzler Folklife Archives and Collections, conduct ethnographic andncultural heritage policy oriented research, and provide educational opportunities throughnfellowships, internships, and training programs. The Center’s philosophy is to join high-qualitynscholarship with strong community participation and engaging educational outreach. This has led to activities that have affected cultural heritage policies and practices at local, national, andninternational levels.
