Republican Scientific-Methodical Center for Organization of Culture Institutions Activity under the Ministry of Culture
Republican cultural institutions established on the basis of the organization, which has been operating since 1936, first in the form of the House of Folk Art, then the Republican Scientific and Methodological Center of Folk Art and Cultural Enlightenment, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated February 15, 2017.\nThe scientific-methodical center for the organization of activities is a state institution under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, whose main task is to comprehensively study the problems of public administration in cultural and art institutions operating in all regions of the country, as well as in the field of culture. to assist in the full implementation of state policy, to ensure active cooperation with public administration and local authorities, to preserve and develop the rich traditions and achievements of our national art, to promote theater, museums, library, creative associations, culture to raise the status of recreation and recreation parks, cultural and recreational centers and concert venues, to submit to the Ministry analytical and critical presentations on the activities of cultural and artistic institutions and to further develop and strengthen their material and technical base further development of creative work carried out by cultural institutions within the framework of its rights and obligations through the development of the necessary recommendations, the formation of a system of training and retraining in accordance with modern requirements and scientific and methodological activities.

CENTRAL ASIAN CRAFTS SUPPORT ASSOCIATION’S RESOURCE CENTER IN KYRGYZSTAN (CACSARC-kg)
The public foundation "CACSARC-kg" was created on the basis of the Central Asian Association for the Support of Crafts (CACSA) - one of the leading non-governmental organizations in the region with an open membership, working in the field of development of the handicraft sector, whose head office was in Bishkek from 2000 to 2008.\nAt its creation, CACSA consisted of several enthusiasts of the region's craft movement, and by 2009, over eight years, CACSA had created a regional network of 76 organizations (from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Mongolia) and implemented more than 50 projects in the field the development and support of crafts, where more than 5,000 artisans across the region have directly and indirectly benefited. During these eight years, CACSA has gained significant experience in the development of the artisan sector of the region, providing artisans with training, marketing and international promotion services.\nAt the end of 2008, the head office of CACSA, according to its Charter, moved to Almaty (Kazakhstan), and in March 2009 “CACSARC-kg” was registered as an independent public fund to continue activities in Kyrgyzstan for the development of crafts and traditional culture.

PACIFIC ISLANDS MUSEUMS ASSOCIATION
The Pacific Islands Museums Association (PIMA) is a regional, non-governmental organization that assists museums, cultural centers, national trusts, cultural departments and ministries, cultural associations, and arts councils. PIMA acknowledges the richness of the Pacific’s ICH and has undertaken some successful initiatives to support ICH safeguarding.\nPIMA was established in 1994 as a regional forum where heritage professionals could exchange their views and work towards improving the quality of service provided to the public. It is the first and only regional, multilingual, multicultural, non-profit organization that assists museums, cultural centers, and people to preserve Pacific heritage.\nPIMA develops community participation in heritage management and brings together over forty-five museums and cultural centers in the Pacific to develop their capacity to identify research, manage, interpret, and nurture cultural and natural heritage. PIMA advocates the development of regional cultural resource management policies and practices, facilitates training, and provides a forum to exchange ideas and skills. It provides and encourages regional and global linkages to support heritage safeguarding. In this article, PIMA highlights a case study on initiatives that PIMA fully supported in Vanuatu as one of its ICH safeguarding activities.

SHILPAKALA ACADEMY
The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (Bangladesh Academy of Fine and Performing Arts) is the apex institution in the field of culture. Located in the heart of the capital city Dhaka and overlooking the historic Ramana Park, an oasis to the bustling city of nearly fifteen million people, the academy is a huge complex of three magnificent buildings that bear the hallmarks of modern architectural beauty.\nThe Academy is a statutory body under the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. It was established in 1974, under the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Act. Its main objective is to safeguard and foster national cultures as well as intangible cultural heritage in Bangladesh. The duties and responsibilities of the academy include promoting arts and national culture as well as creating necessary facilities for their development. The activities of the academy also include organizing workshops, seminars, discussion meetings, short-term specialized training sessions; providing scholarships and financial grants for talented artists; and organizing competitions in the various fields of fine and performing arts, and it regularly holds the Asian Biennial Art Exhibition. Recently it has completed a project in cooperation with UNESCO Dhaka for safeguarding Baul Songs, the only intangible cultural heritage element of Bangladesh on the Representative List. The academy is the premier venue for the expression of traditional and contemporary arts and culture of the people of Bangladesh, and it is planning to extend its collaborative activities internationally, especially through the Asia-Pacific region.

CHINA NATIONAL SILK MUSEUM
The China National Silk Museum (CNSM) first opened in February 1992 and reopened in September 2016. Now it has become one of the first state-level museums in China, where audiences will find 9,000 square meters of displays in a typical southern Chinese garden of 42,286 square meters near West Lake, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.\nThe museum is divided into several galleries. The first is the Silk Road Gallery, in which the permanent exhibition The Way of Chinese Silk: Silk History and the Silk Road introduces Chinese silk historically and the Silk Road geometrically. Both the earliest preserved silk from the Qianshanyang site, Huzhou, (c.2200 BCE) and the earliest pattern loom model from Laoguanshan, Chengdu, (c.100 BCE) are on display. In the underground of the Silk Road Gallery, the Textile Training Center offers professional courses related to weaving, dyeing, embroidering, and braiding to satisfy the demand of the people who love traditional textile culture and those who wish to inherit traditional skills.\nOn 28 September 2009, Sericulture and Silk Craftsmanship of China was added to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. To help the audience better understand the intangible cultural heritage, the Sericulture and Weaving Galleries provides more information on how the silk is made. There are five sections of the exhibition, which are The Story of the Silkworm, Folk Customs in the Birthplace of Sericulture, Silk-making Techniques, Textile Printing, Dyeing and Embroidery and Weaving Techniques, displaying more than 270 objects covering the whole process from planting mulberry trees, raising silkworms, releasing silk from cocoons, dyeing, weaving, and embroidery. The techniques in the exhibition combine static displays with live demonstration.

Prokritee
Prokritee, established in 2001, is a Not-for-Profit Company manufacturing and exporting handicrafts. The organisation is committed to moral and social values and supports over 1,500 artisans in rural areas. For the products they use recycled materials such as used sari, waste jute, silk, handmade paper, natural fibers and leaves. They are winners of the WFTO Mohammed Islam Design Award 2015 for our Paper Christmas tree ornament made out of water-hyacinth and handmade paper. The products produced by the artisans are sold in Bangladesh and exported to many countries around the world. Prokritee and its enterprises provide jobs for marginalized rural women; thus improves women’s standard of living and helps them send their children to school. The organisation provides skill development training to artisans. Prokritee creates and promotes income generating projects that benefit the artisans in marginalized situations and adheres to good safety and environmental standards, and have the potential to become self–reliant. The initiatives of Prokritee have a huge impact on social inclusion as well. Some examples are the Hajiganj Handicrafts Crochet Unit (set up in 2006 to support Bihari families who had to flee their homes, during the partition of Bengal), Sacred Mark Enterprises (set up for alternative employment of former sex workers) and Biborton Handmade Paper (set up in Barishal district which is a disadvantaged and vulnerable area). Prokritee also works with the ethnic minority groups like the Santhals in Rajshahi district and some indigenous groups in the Hill Tracks of Chittagong, Bandarban and Rangamati.

Janakaraliya- Theatre of the People
Jana Karaliya is a mobile cultural organisation that uses a collapsible theatre and travels through districts with its theatre group. It provides the area with a cultural hub during its stay, using drama and theatre, with other art forms for social harmony. It implements human development activities using drama and theatre at the grass root level as well as the higher level of the society. Its mission is to develop a culturally and spiritually awakened society enabling it to live in peace and harmony and also make the Sri Lankan society a sensitive, creative, wise, active and a just one. The theatre group travels from district to district organising drama and theatre training for youth, providing cultural and spiritual experiences and also giving the people an opportunity to participate in cultural activities.

YAP STATE HISTORIC PRESERVATION OFFICE OF MICRONESIA
The Yap State Historic Preservation Office (YSHPO), located in Yap State in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), operates under the Department of Youth and Civic Affairs of the Yap State Government and has a regular budget funded by the local government and the National Park Service (NPS) and the United States Department of the Interior (DOI). YSHPO also receives occasional funding assistance for projects, technical or capacity building, and training and workshops from esteemed regional and international organizations—such as UNESCO, ICHCAP, and CRIHAP—and various national governments, including those of Australia, France, United States, and the FSM. YSHPO also collaborates and networks with other regional organizations, universities, and other bodies. To name a few, they include the University of Oregon, the University of Guam, Queens College, La Trobe, and others by conducting field schools in Yap during academic breaks.\nYSHPO has five main functions: 1) collecting Yapese written and oral history, 2) registering and surveying cultural and historical properties, 3) inventorying and mapping cultural and historical sites and properties, 4) restoring and rehabilitating cultural and historic properties, and 5) performing general YSHPO administration, including NPS/DOI Historic Preservation Fund (HPF). The organization also occasionally assists and supports the operation of the Yap State Living History Museum. Of some related projects, ICHCAP has funded three in Yap: 1) Youth Meets ICH with OurYAP, an umbrella youth organization for all the youth clubs, including high school children in Yap State, 2) the Preliminary Survey on Dormant ICH Data in the Pacific with a mixture of project workers from the Waab Cultural Heritage Society (elders) and some young people along with YSHPO staff, and 3) the 2017 ICHCAP-YSHPO Joint Cooperation Project for Safeguarding Intangible Heritage by Digitizing ICH-Related Analogue Data of the FSM, which is still ongoing.

Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, Smithsonian
The Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage is a research and educational unit of the SmithsoniannInstitution that produces the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, Smithsonian Folkways Recordings,nexhibitions, documentary films and videos, symposia, publications, and educational materials. ThenCenter also maintains the Ralph Rinzler Folklife Archives and Collections, conduct ethnographic andncultural heritage policy oriented research, and provide educational opportunities throughnfellowships, internships, and training programs. The Center’s philosophy is to join high-qualitynscholarship with strong community participation and engaging educational outreach. This has led to activities that have affected cultural heritage policies and practices at local, national, andninternational levels.

Hue Traditional Royal Theatre of Arts
\nFormed in 1994, the Hue Traditional Royal Theatre of Arts functions under the authority of HuếnMonuments Conservation Centre. It works to preserve and promote genres of royal arts, such asnNhã nhạc Court Music, Royal dance and Tuồng court opera. More than 150 artists andninstrumentalists who received professional training are working for the theatre. In addition, thentheatreworks in collaboration with researchers, master artists, instrumentalists, and reputablenexperts in the field such as Professor Trần văn Khê, Professor Tô Ngọc Thanh, Professor Hoàng ChâunKý, Meritorious Artist Trần Kích, and master instrumentalist Lữ Hữu Thi. Many years since itsninception, the theatre has collected, restored, and performed about 40 pieces of ritual music, plentynroyal dances, and excerpts of Tuồng, contributing to the safeguarding of important values ofnVietnamese traditional performing arts. The Theatre has also participated in art festivals in thencountry and overseas, receiving appreciations from the audiences.

VIETNAM NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF CULTURE AND ARTS STUDIES (VICAS)
Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies (VICAS) is a scientific institution under thenMinistry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST). It conducts research and scientific activities andnprovides graduate training in culture and arts. It has been carrying out research and developingnscientific foundations for MoCST to develop strategy and build instruments and policies for statenmanagement of culture, family life, sports and tourism. It also safeguards intangible culturalnheritage by means of data/material collection and research. It operates doctoral programs innculture and arts with five majors as follows: Cultural Studies, Cultural Management, Theory andnHistory of Theatrical Arts, and Theory and History of Fine Arts and Folklore.

Prabartana
Prabartana is a social enterprise, working since 1986 with the artisans related to handloom for market linkage and revival of Tangail Taant shaari. The organisation provides training to the weavers with improved technical enhancement like documentation of pattern in computer instead of manual style of Jacquard patter design. As a safeguarding action they are involved in artisans’ exhibition and workshop for cultural exchange, audio-visual documentations and publications of books, social media based promotions and audience development with the use of website, webpage, newspaper articles and festival relevant brochures. Resource mobilisation is done through individual investments and collaborations with Government organisations for tourism and craft. The initiatives have helped ICH practitioners to acquire skills and enhance livelihood opportunities. Most of the beneficiaries are women from the marginalized communities living in the remote villages. They are now working for the revival several near lost performing folk art forms like Banbibir Pot (Sundarban), Chunaibibir Gaan (Chittagong), Song Jatra (Tangail), Meyeli Geet (Tangail, Kishorganj & Mymensingh) and Alkap (Chapai). They are also working on the crafts and musical instruments of Monipuri community.
