Description Laf or hyperbola is an excessive exaggeration of any qualities or properties, phenomena, processes in order to create a vivid and impressive image. This is often found in oral folk work, for example, dastans and myths. In Uzbeks, this can also be seen in everyday life. In fiction, they are used to strengthen expressiveness, create a figurative characteristic of the hero, a vivid and individual idea of him.
Social and cultural significance Using a hyperbole, the author's attitude to the character is revealed, a general impression of the statement is created. Also in this series there is an expressive means based on understatement or softening of properties. In fact, this is the exact opposite of exaggeration. If hyperbola is aimed at enlarging the scale of the phenomenon, then lithota, on the contrary, reduces them (He chopped the mosquito's mustache, shoe of the flea). So, this element in speech performs the following functions:n• draws the attention of the addressee to the statement. • helps the addressee to draw attention to a particular subject or phenomenon,n• indicate the exclusivity of an image object. • often it creates a comic effect. Uzbeks can also use Laf everyday life, to strengthen expressiveness, create figurative characteristic, expresses the attitude. It can be also a part of Askiya, Lapar, Dastan and others. Sometimes it used in didactic materials.
Transmission method The element is an integral part of Uzbek folklore. It is passed from generation to generation, in the family, makhalla, kindergarten, school. Books for children, special literature are published. Also it passed via performances of humorious groups, in Askiya genre as well.
