Description A cattle breeding is one of the ancient activities dealt by Uzbeks. It is the dominant animal husbandry industry specializing in breeding cattle for milk, beef, leather raw materials, as well as as a traction force. Even the holy book of Zoroastrianism, “Avesta”, calls upon careful attitude towards cattle, in particular, in relation to horses, bovine animals, sheep and goats. A cattle breeding was one of the main activities in mountainous, submontane and steppe areas of Uzbekistan. The essence of traditions, knowledge and skills related to cattle breeding and goals pursued by them, were always the same - they were aimed at breeding animals, protecting them from various diseases, predators and thieves, preventing their loss, etc.
Social and cultural significance Animal husbandry accounts for 31% of the total gross agricultural output of Uzbekistan. This industry plays a large role in generating rural incomes, so the prospects for its development are a priority of agrarian policy. Over the past 30 years, the agricultural sector of the country has undergone significant changes. Dehkan and farmers become The main agricultural producers. Currently, more than 90% of all livestock production is produced by small dehkan farms. The main problem of the industry is the imbalance between the number of livestock and the amount of resources available for its maintenance. From 1992 to 2019, the number of cattle in Uzbekistan increased 2.3 times, meat production 2.9 times, milk consumption 2.7 times. At the same time, the sown area for fodder crops decreased by 73%, pasture areas decreased. One of the factors impeding the development of dairy farming is the too small size of the bulk of producers in this sector. Small producers do not have the opportunity to introduce advanced animal technology standards. State support in the field of animal husbandry is mainly carried out by providing preferential loans to producers of livestock products and tax incentives to processors of these products. There are veterinary stations throughout the country that vaccinate, treat and artificially inseminate cattle farms and dehkan farms. However, often these procedures are related to the need to incur additional costs for these activities. An important factor for success is the improvement of skills, effective use of knowledge and skills.
Transmission method Develloped in villages. Transmission method is mainly from father to son. As to educational institutions, so Agriculture university, specialized colleges and others provide training programmes.
