Đông Cứu is a village in the ancient Ngũ Xã. The founder of the profession was Mr. Bùi Công Hành who learned the embroidery craft when he was sent as an envoy to China and when he returned to his country, he passed on the embroidery craft to the Ngũ Xã villages. Đông Cứu is one of the villages that preserves the traditional craft with ancient embroidery techniques, specializing in restored embroidery and spiritual services such as shoes, sandals, parasols, umbrellas, sacrificial costumes, and costumes for the mediums.
The materials used in the embroidery craft in Đông Cứu include: fabrics, threads/fibers, cotton, straw, foam... of domestic or imported origin (China, India...). Tools include: rectangular and round frames, of which rectangular frames are more commonly used; embroidery needles, finger protectors, embroidery machines of all kinds; kerosene for printing designs; drawing chalk; sponges soaked in a mixture of kerosene and powder to print designs; measuring paper or mica used to prick designs.
