| Description | 역사적으로 말레이시아(말레이 반도)는 황금반도(Golden Chersonese)로 알려져 있었다. 과거에 말레이 인들은 강기슭이나 해안가를 따라 거주하였다. 일부 거주지는 동남아시아에서 가장 중요한 무역 중심지였다. 말레이 해상제국은 베트남과 캄보디아 해안에서 태국 남부, 말레이반도, 싱가포르, 보르네오, 수마트라, 리아우(Riau), 술라웨시(Sulawesi) 그리고 남부 필리핀에 이르는 거대한 왕국이었다. 말레이어 권 전역에 걸쳐 왕국의 통치자를 비롯해 부와 권력을 갖춘 자들을 위해 금으로 장식한 직물이 제작되었다. 금으로 만든 직물 외에 귀족이나 왕족이 대체로 많이 사용한 것은 말레이 자수품인 송켓(songket)이었다. | ||
