Bakytgul Raimbaeva, founder of the Ansagan craft school in Zhosaly, Kyzylorda, teaches traditional Kazakh carpet weaving to children, especially girls with disabilities. Inspired by her daughter Ansagan, who struggled with a debilitating illness, Bakytgul turned her grandmother’s teachings into a healing community project.
Starting with just four girls in 2007, her center now welcomes over 130 students. Through folk art, creativity, and compassion, she helps children recover physically and emotionally, continuing a sacred Kazakh tradition while fostering resilience, socialization, and hope. |
