
Description | 진흙을 이용하는 이푸가오(Ifugao)주의 전통 염색 기법은 직물에 문양을 넣는 직조 기법인 이캇(Ikat)의 주요 공정 중 하나이다. 실을 다발로 묶어 디자인을 만든 후 일부분을 방염하는데, 염색 전 진흙을 골고루 바르면 직물에 염료가 잘 스며들어 더욱더 진한 색으로 발색이 된다. 여기서 진흙은 친환경적인 전통 방식의 매염제 역할을 한다. 이푸가오의 진흙 염색은 상업적 염색의 발달로 인해 현재 사라질 위험에 처해있다. 본 영상은 진흙 채취에서부터 염료 제작과 직물 염색까지 다양한 공정을 소개한다. | ||
