Description Family rites of Uzbeks are a life cycle, which covers a set of family traditions connected to the birth, reaching of adulthood, twelve-year cycle (muchal), wedding, funeral, etc. From among family rituals and ceremonies it is possible to mention wedding-ceremonial ones (beshik toy, sunnat toy, muchal toy, nikoh toy), funeral-commemorative ones (aza-motam, sadr), daily life related ones (badik, kina, alas, kushnos, mushkulkushod) and others.
Social and cultural significance Traditional rituals and ceremonies of family life are considered the most valuable sources for learning culture, its evolution and ethno-genetic linkages. Family rites are not only certain action, practice or festive event associated with birth of child and his upbringing, with the wedding and others. They are also an action, practice associated with the death of a person, family member, with treatment rituals. All these, in fact, reflection of the whole history and culture of the nation with its rich traditions. The basic principles of the Uzbek family are the sanctity of marriage, the responsibility of parents for raising children and the duty of children to parents, mutual respect and consent, and the protection of family honor and dignity. Traditions are an integral part of the way of life and national culture of the people of Uzbekistan, occupy a high place in the system of values and attitudes. The most durable families are based on local customs and traditions. During the years of Uzbekistan's independence, historical cultural values and distinctive national traditions, including those associated with the institution of the family, have not only been preserved, but have also been further developed in our society. Citizens of Uzbekistan see this as a process of growing national identity, returning to the main origins of the people. Today family values are being revived, their meaning increase permanently. Newly established Ministry of Support for Mahalla and Family also encourage it.
Transmission method Transmission of the element is being carried while common organization of various events, in traditions lessons at schools and other educational institutions, from elders to youth at families.
